Cedar Rapids Neighborhood Association
Mission Statement

The Cedar Rapids Neighborhood Association (CRN) is an organization comprised of the presidents (or their designees) of the recognized, independent neighborhood associations throughout the city.  While supporting the independence of the individual within an association and the individual neighborhood associations themselves, the CRN believes that there are times and situations when a united front can be most effective: expressing support or concern to the decision makers of Cedar Rapids; pursuing funding for neighborhood projects; and providing coordination to best capitalize on assets while avoiding duplication of efforts are a few examples of the ways working together can yield the best results.

The CRN believes that every neighbor's voice is important and has a right to be heard.  Live and electronic forums regarding specific issues will provide opportunities to make that possible.  Every neighbor is also encouraged to participate in their own neighborhood organization.  If your neighborhood does not fall within the boundaries of a current association, you may feel free to attend CRN meetings and functions of an organized neighborhood near you or contact the CRN to establish your own neighborhood association.  One of the CRN's goals is to have neighborhood associations covering all neighborhoods and represent all neighbors in Cedar Rapids in 2010.

In 2010 CRN opened a Neighborhood Peer Advocacy Center (NPAC),  to provide yet another opportunity for neighbors to express questions and/or concerns regarding any aspect of the quality of life within Cedar Rapids.  The NPAC will also provide a home for educational and entertainment programming, a distribution center, and a communications clearing house that will enable all neighbors to stay current of news affecting their lives.
